Recruitment is all about people looking for people. You might argue that actually it is about businesses looking for skills, but whatever way you look at it, recruiters and HR departments look just as keenly at the person as what it says on their CV, because in the end they want a personality that fits with the team, as well as their skills and experience.
There is a good deal of data required to match the talent with the job specification and the business’s profile. It’s certainly rather more complicated than swiping left or right on Tinder, although one can see some similarities. A recruiter may find someone with the right skills for the job spec they have been given, but find that the talent they have their eye on doesn’t want to work for that company, and there can be many reasons for that. As a result, it’s back to the drawing board, and that is time wasted for both company HR managers and recruitment companies.
Robots hit the bullseye for HR
By introducing new technology into the recruitment process, HR departments can fine-tune their searches for new recruits, leading to more first-time accuracy in candidate selection and ultimately, a successful conclusion to filling an employment gap.
Enter Robotic Process Automation, or RPA. This technology allows anyone to configure software to create a ‘robot’ that performs the same actions as a human interacting with a digital system.
An RPA robot can utilize the user interface, capture data and manipulate it in the same way a person can, but here is the big difference: a robot works 24/7, doesn’t need to sleep, take holidays, or have a lunch break; it’s working for you all the time.
Robots reduce your overheads
Any business, particularly a new business, is always looking for ways to reduce costs: Robotic Process Automation (RPA) does just that. What’s more, the entry cost for using RPA is also a fraction of what it once was. Neither does integrating an RPA mean that you will have to dismantle or disrupt your existing systems, it is scalable and adaptable to any changes in the business environment and there is ample IT support.
Why HR and robots work well together
The HR recruitment process is ripe for automation, and there is a fast return on investment (ROI) following RPA implementation. Here’s a good story that Robocore’s partner, Ui Path, discovered in its study of recruitment and robotics:
“An HR service provider from Europe was processing 2,500 sick leave certificates per month with an average handling time of four minutes per item. Within three weeks they implemented an RPA solution and achieved 90% process automation. The RPA robot extracts data from a transaction in SAP, inserts the information into the customer’s systems, and prints it. The HR service provider achieved a return-on-investment within six months, with error rates reduced to 0%, manual effort reduced to 5%, and processing time reduced by 80%.”
Obviously this is an HR service working with a massive volume, but it illustrates the speed at which robots can complete a repetitive operation and with zero error rates. Ultimately, the robots free up employees to do the more complex tasks that still can’t be automated.
The business benefits of robots
Robotic Process Automation delivers direct profitability while improving accuracy across organizations and industries. Robots streamline workflow, allow more flexibility and deliver a fast, tailored response to specific needs. Furthermore, robots are easy to train, and it is easy to multiply them as your business grows.
